OverviewMIRALITE® PURE by Saint-Gobain Glass is a mirror designed without added lead and with very low emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOC). Based on PLANICLEAR® glass for optimal light transmission and neutral reflection, it diffuses light in interior spaces and contributes to a visually enlarged volume. More opaque than a conventional mirror, it provides extended durability while supporting improved indoor air quality.
Applications- Domestic: bathrooms, corridors, furniture (wall cladding, cabinets, shelves).
- Commercial: offices, beauty salons, hotels, restaurants, gyms, elevators.
- Customization: multiple cutting and shaping options, framed or unframed forms, supplied as single pieces, wall panels or furniture cladding.
Fixing methods- Rebate mounting in a profile: ensure the profile is clean and dry; support the mirror on pads of at least 3 mm to avoid contact with water and condensation.
- Bracket fixings: use suitable fixings, avoid direct glass-metal contact by inserting synthetic washers or spacers; tighten without stressing the glass.
- Adhesive bonding: use adhesives that have been positively tested (recommended references listed below).
- Double-sided adhesive tapes: use the recommended tapes/adhesives (references listed below).
MaintenanceAvoid aggressive products (strong acids, strongly alkaline or abrasive solutions). Prevent residues of cleaning products from accumulating on the mirror edges.
Safety and installation recommendationsThe MIRALITE® PURE mirror must be installed in accordance with applicable regulations and installation guidelines. Use of a laminated/shatter-resistant film is often required. Regardless of the fixing method:
- Install on a stable, clean, dry and perfectly flat support.
- Provide ventilation between the wall support and the mirror: 5 mm for mirrors < 1 m high, 10 mm for larger mirrors.
- Leave a gap of 1 to 2 mm between adjacent mirrors.
- Avoid proximity to heat sources (lighting, heaters, etc.).
- The combination of adhesive + tape is recommended for a durable and secure installation.
Benefits- Manufactured from 30% recycled glass (cullet).
- Reduced paint volume (20% less lacquer than a standard mirror) thanks to a single-layer deposition.
- 70% fewer solvents compared to a standard mirror; protective lacquer is water-based.
- No aromatic solvents such as xylene in the protective layer.
- Extremely low VOC emissions (indoor air quality: < 10 μg/m3).
- Good corrosion resistance; durability exceeding EN 1036 requirements.
- Suitable for backlit mirrors: fully opaque reverse side, compatible with LED backlighting.
- Multiple processing options: shaping, cutting without chipping or fraying.
