The six-storey Lintuviita residential building has been completed in winter 2013 and is currently the highest wooden building in Finland. This project is based on Stora Ensos wooden modular elements prefabricated in our Hartola unit. Modular construction means construction with prefabricated housing modules. This reduces construction time by up to 50 70 % compared to traditional construction. Modular construction is fast and efficient. The modules are built from start to finish indoors and are not exposed to variable weather conditions. The ready modules are then delivered to the construction site. The base floor, made of concrete, was constructed in three months. The other five floors were done just in 2,5 months, which shows that the technology based on wooden modules considerably shortens construction time.
