Overview
Ultibed Trenchfill is a soil binder that enables soil from utility trench excavation to be processed on site and reused as a structural reinstatement material. The treated material delivers significantly greater strength than traditional methods (notably described as three times greater strength than Type 1 aggregate) and offers operational and sustainability benefits by reducing material and waste disposal needs.

Compliance & waste status
Meets the requirements of the Specification for the Reinstatement of Openings in Highways (SROH) Appendix A9 covering Alternative Reinstatement Materials as a structural material for reinstatements (SMR). The Environment Agency’s Definition of Waste (DoW) Service has confirmed that, where excavated materials are treated for immediate, compliant reuse using Ultibed Trenchfill SMR, they are not classified as waste under the SWUK Protocol (October 2025). Ultibed Trenchfill enables hazardous materials such as tar-bound planings to be safely re-used as a trench fill material and can be used in compliance with the latest WM3 standards.
