OverviewTopforce is a fibre-reinforced, high-performance structural concrete available in two formulations: Topforce MF with macro synthetic polypropylene fibres and Topforce SF with steel fibres. Designed to provide distributed 3D reinforcement across slab depth, Topforce reduces reliance on traditional crack control mesh and improves durability and load performance for large-area floors and civil structures.
Applications- Internal floors: Topforce MF for retail, warehouse and heavy industrial floors.
- Airport taxiways: Topforce MF suitable for taxiways.
- Civil engineering: Topforce SF for bridges, ramps and heavy-load structures.
- External slabs and pavements: Topforce MF for hardstandings and pavements.
- Highways sublayers: Topforce MF properties applicable to highway sublayers.
- Composite metal decks: Topforce SF for composite decking applications.
- Roads & bridges: Topforce MF and SF options depend on structural requirements.
- Heavy-duty flooring and jointless slabs: Topforce SF where high durability and reduced jointing are required.
Benefits- Faster construction: Reduces on-site handling and mesh installation, accelerating programme delivery.
- Improved safety: Eliminates ordering, handling and fixing of steel mesh on site, lowering manual handling risks.
- Enhanced durability: Improved abrasion, impact and corrosion performance; fibres increase flexural capacity and reduce drying shrinkage cracking.
- Cost efficiency: Potential reduction in material, labour and equipment costs by excluding traditional mesh reinforcement.
- Better crack control: 3D fibre reinforcement reduces the risk of plastic and drying shrinkage cracks.
- Logistics advantages: Fewer deliveries, less on-site storage and reduced crane time.
- Lower carbon option: Macro synthetic fibre mixes offer significant CO2 savings compared with steel mesh reinforced concrete.
- Standards compliance: When designed in accordance with relevant British and European standards, separate crack-control fabric is not required.
Additional informationTopforce MF (macro synthetic polypropylene fibres) can include micro polypropylene fibres to reduce plastic shrinkage cracking and is well suited to exposed external applications. Topforce SF (steel fibres) targets large-area floors and heavy-duty applications where higher load capacity and optimised joint spacing are required. Both formulations are produced with batch control technology to ensure correct fibre dosing and distribution.
Technical specifications- Formulations: Topforce MF (macro synthetic polypropylene fibres), Topforce SF (steel fibres).
- Fibre standards: Topforce MF fibres compliant with BS EN 14889-2:2006 (Class II where applicable); Topforce SF steel fibres compliant with BS EN 14889-2:2006.
- Manufacturing standards: Produced in conformity with BS EN 206 and BS 8500; cement, aggregates and admixtures selected per BS EN 197-1, BS EN 12620 / BS EN 13055-1 and BS EN 934-2 as appropriate.
- Quality & certification: Produced under a quality system certified to ISO 9001; referenced certifications include BBA, BES 6001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 where applicable.
- Performance: Designed to improve crack control, flexural strength, impact and abrasion resistance; suitable options for reduced-CO2 mixes and use of replacement cements/secondary aggregates.
- Construction benefits: Reduced labour, handling and crane requirements; improved programme speed and site logistics; potential overall project cost savings.
