A glass panel is a thin, rectangular element widely used in architecture and construction. Its properties depend on the production process.
- Blown glass has an irregular surface due to the incorporated air.
- Heat-toughened glass is strengthened through slow heating and cooling.
- Tempered glass is heated, then quickly cooled, making it four times stronger.
- Laminated glass includes sheets of another material, such as acrylic or polycarbonate.
- Leaded glass protects against x-rays.
- Ceramic glass offers fire protection.
Different glass types and production techniques confer varying properties and characteristics to the panels. They can be fireproof, insulating, non-slip (for floors), non-reflecting, curved, decorative, colored, enameled, lacquered, printed and satin finish, among other characteristics.
