In the Barcelona workshop, the cover of our BKF chair is hand-sewn with German Gütermann threads. The master craftsman combines the use of triple feed head machines and hand stitching to achieve the highest level of detail. This cover rests on a 12mm diameter solid steel frame, hand polished and painted in black epoxy. bO “AUSTRAL” The Butterfly Chair shares its year of birth with that of the makers' own Grupo Austral. This group of architects that a major influence on the outlook of the architecture and design of Latin America from the thirties onwards. Antonio Bonet, Jorge Ferrari Hardoy and Juan Kurchan were some of its founders. Passion for architecture and design and its conception as individual and collective expression were the engines which took the BKF trio to embark on this project, the same engines that gave birth to one of the interior icon designs by reference, the Butterfly chair.
