OverviewMatrix is a modular formwork in recycled polypropylene for reinforced concrete raised floors that facilitates the routing and maintenance of MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) systems. Unlike raised floors with a metal substructure, Matrix enables the creation of a monolithic concrete slab with a walkable surface and a load-bearing capacity of up to 10 000 kg/m2.
Advantages- High load-bearing capacity: up to 10 000 kg/m2
- Structural fire safety: concrete slab isolates MEP from floor finishes
- Stable and walkable surface after casting
- Improved seismic response and reduced differential settlements
- Flexibility in building design and MEP installation
- Maximum clearance for MEP systems (net height 10–12 cm; passage width 30–40 cm)
- Fully inspectable technical compartments
- Compatible with any type of top finishing (laminate, marble, wood, linoleum, etc.)
Solutions- Railway and metro stations
- Shopping centres
- Tertiary facilities and offices
- Airports
- Hospitals
- Cruise terminals
- White rooms and control rooms
Installation Instructions- Base grid installation: Matrix four-arm base modules are laid on the slab and coupled by pressure hooking to create an orthogonal grid for MEP routing.
- MEP laying: MEP systems are positioned within the grid according to project specifications.
- Top formwork installation: Matrix top formwork modules are placed following the assembly diagram.
- Concrete casting: After steel reinforcement (mesh) is installed, concrete is poured over the top formwork to create a monolithic, walkable floor base.
FAQ- Does Matrix allow MEP maintenance? — Yes. Maintenance is facilitated by inspection shafts for technical compartment access that can be positioned as required by the project.
- What are the advantages of Matrix compared to traditional raised floors? — Matrix is composed of two recycled-plastic elements (base grid and top formwork) that are quick and intuitive to lay, and it creates a high-capacity monolithic concrete base.
