Description

Description
COOL-LITE® XTREME 51/23 insulating glazing provides very high solar protection by blocking 77% of incoming heat while transmitting 51% of visible light. It offers the best selectivity (visible transmission / solar factor = 2.22). Its neutral appearance and low reflection integrate easily into most projects. Available in annealed or tempered versions. This product replaces COOL-LITE® XTREME 50/22 II.

Environmental values and positioning
COOL-LITE® XTREME 51/23 is part of the "Les Engagés" range: solutions designed for environmental performance, health and well-being according to Saint‑Gobain pillars (energy & carbon, resource & circularity, health & well-being).

Main attributes
  • Energy savings
    • Reduces lighting and cooling consumption: selectivity > 2
    • Reduces heating losses (Ug = 1.0 W/m².K for double glazing)
  • Thermal comfort: limits the risk of overheating in summer and reduces the cold-surface sensation in winter.
  • Visual comfort: maximises natural light for a given solar protection while maintaining optimal outward views.

Applications
  • Atriums for natural daylighting without overheating.
  • Glazed façades oriented south and west in hot, sunny climates, or where no additional external solar protection is provided.
  • Highly exposed verandas and rooflights for improved year-round thermal comfort.

Benefits
  • Neutral, low-reflective appearance from the outside.
  • High solar protection (solar factor g ≈ 0.23): reduces cooling requirements.
  • Excellent thermal insulation (Ug ≈ 1.0 W/m².K for double glazing) that limits heating losses.

Performance (key values by configuration)
Column format: Configuration | Visible transmission TL (%) | Exterior reflection Rle (%) | Interior reflection Rli (%) | Solar factor g | Selectivity TL/g | Ug (W/m².K) | Carbon footprint (kg CO2-eq/m²)
Double glazing 6*(16)4 (substrate ORAÉ®) | 51 | 13 | 18 | 0.23 | 2.22 | 1.0 | 22.04
Double glazing 6*(16)4 (substrate PLANICLEAR®) | 51 | 13 | 18 | 0.23 | 2.22 | 1.0 | 30.34
Double glazing 6*(16)4 (substrate DIAMANT®) | 52 | 13 | 18 | 0.23 | 2.26 | 1.0 | 30.90
Triple glazing 6*(16)4(16)*4 with ECLAZ® LUMI face 5 (substrate PLANICLEAR®) | 47 | 14 | 20 | 0.21 | 2.23 | 0.5 | 44.80
* Values given according to standards EN 673 and EN 410, calculated with argon fill (90% for double glazing, 85% for triple glazing).

Characteristics / technical specifications
  • Range: COOL-LITE® XTREME 51/23 (main model) and COOL-LITE® XTREME 51/23 II (tempered version).
  • Availabilities: COOL-LITE® XTREME 51/23 available in 4, 6 and 8 mm (PLANICLEAR®) in 6000 x 3210 mm; other thicknesses, substrates or sizes on request. COOL-LITE® XTREME 51/23 II available in 6, 8 and 10 mm (PLANICLEAR®) in 6000 x 3210 mm; other thicknesses, substrates or sizes on request (up to 18 m).
  • Versions: Annealed and Tempered (II). The tempered version is compatible with the Heat Soak test.
  • Assembly / installation: removal of the coating on the edges (margination) is mandatory before assembly; for insulating glazing the coating must be placed on face 2 (protected inside the insulating unit); for laminated glass the coating must be placed on the outside of the assembly (face 4 of the laminated glass).
  • Enamelling: enamelling of silver-based coatings is not validated.
  • Recommended use: façades, curtain walls, atriums, heavily exposed verandas and applications requiring high selectivity and low reflection.
