Anegre, a special wood which is often imprinted or dyed to resemble cheery or walnut, has a plain grainy and occasionally lightly striped texture from interlocked fibers. It's difficult to tell the sapwood from the heartwood. The unobtrusively marked diffuse-porous wood is admired for its warm light golden brown to light pink-reddish grey tones and its silky luster.
