Description

HISTORY The Lindsay clan was founded in Lanarkshire and descended from Baldric de Lindesaya, who was banished with other knights by Duke William of Normandy in 1058. Settling initially in Lincolnshire and Leicestershire,the family was forced to relocate when the Duke of Normandy invaded England. Settling in Crawford in about 1120, the Earl David of Huntington/ Kind David of Scotland confirmed the lands to the Lindsay clan in 1124. The Lindsay tartan is predominantly red with green and blue.
