Description

HISTORY The Douglas clan is an ancient family from the lowlands of Scotland, Douglas, South Lanarkshire. The family's original seat was Douglas Castle. The first recorded Douglas is documented as William of Douglas around 1175 and 1211. His son Archibald Douglas had an extremely prosperous life before vanishing in 1239. The family grew to be a very powerful and prosperous family for a couple centuries. The Douglas Grey tartan is two shades of grey. Crest:On a chapeau, a green salamander surrounded by fire Motto: Jamais Arriere (Never behind) Lands:Lanarkshire, Galloway, Dumfriesshire and Angus Seat: No currently recognised Clan Chief, or armigerous clan. ABOUT THE CARPET Materials: All of our carpets are 80% British Wool and 20% Nylon. Woven 8 row Axminster with a heavy commercial quality.
