HISTORY The Menzies clan were first known as de Meyneris, a branch if the Mesnieres / Manners family from Normandy, who moved to Lothian and later the highlands. Menzies castle, the family seat, used in World War II as a Polish Medical Stores department, is currently being restored by the Clan Menzies Society. Colonel James Menzies introduced the Larch tree to Scotland from Tyrol in 1737, which is now seen across the highlands. THe first trees are still located on the Duke of Atholl's residence. The Menzies tartan is black with white. Crest: The head of a savage.
