Description

Located in the Pudong District the project is a multi-purpose building. The 88-story tower was China’s tallest building at the time of its completion and today remains one of the most iconic in the world. The heavily articulated façade that gives the tower the distinctly ornamented exterior comprises several types of systems. The podium features include: a thermally broken stick system façade, ventilated outer skin and stepped, offset granite slabs. From level 4 to 88 the system is based on unitized panels including double-glazed unit, toughened glass and stainless steel sheet cladding for the spandrel areas and vertical mullions in various widths with aluminum fins and 50 mm thick stainless steel rods. The spire base and the spire include prefabricated steel framework, double glazing and stainless steel sheets and highly polished decorative stainless steel globes. The building is designed applying advanced structural engineering concepts to withstand typhoon-force winds and seismic loads. CTBUH 'Performance Award' 2014 Finalist. Scope of Work 100,000 sqm (1 million sq ft) of cladding and curtain wall.
