Description

Overview
Ultibed Mortar 60 is a rapid-setting bedding mortar formulated to achieve a typical return-to-service time of approximately 60 minutes at ambient temperatures around 18–22°C. It is specified for applications requiring fast early strength gain and compliance with National Highways HD 27/15.

Applications
  • Laying setts (bedding mortar for paving setts)
  • Installation of street furniture
  • Inspection chamber and manhole reinstatement
  • Manhole cover and inspection frame installations
  • Stanchion and post installation
  • Gully grate and drain cover installation
  • Laying kerb stones

Key benefits
  • Rapid return to service: typical traffic-ready time ~60 minutes at ~18–22°C
  • High early and high final compressive and flexural strength (see technical data)
  • Strong bonding to substrates without requirement for a primer
  • Factory blended under quality procedures in accordance with BS EN ISO 9001
  • Easy to mix on site; mechanical mixer recommended
  • Workability typically 5–10 minutes after mixing
  • Available in 25 kg water-resistant bags and tubs; vacuum packed for extended shelf life
  • Optional PLUS+ formulation with improved performance and reduced environmental impact

Usage & mixing
Mix one 25 kg bag with approximately 2.5–3.0 litres of clean, cool water. For best results, pre‑measure water and add powder to water, mixing for about 2–3 minutes until a smooth, homogeneous consistency is achieved. Recommended equipment: forced-action high shear mixer or slow-speed drill with paddle; hand mixing acceptable for small volumes. Typical workability: ~5–10 minutes. Clean tools and equipment immediately after use with clean water.

Technical specifications
  • Water addition (per 25 kg): 2.5–3.0 litres
  • Workability: 5–10 minutes

  • Density: 2250–2300 kg/m³
  • Yield (per 25 kg): 12.2 litres
  • Laboratory conditions: data obtained at 20°C and WSR 0.12
  • Strength (laboratory results): After 60 minutes — compressive: 20.0 N/mm²; flexural: 4.5 N/mm²
    After 4 hours — compressive: 25.0 N/mm²; flexural: 6.5 N/mm²
    After 1 day — compressive: 45.0 N/mm²; flexural: 7.5 N/mm²
    After 7 days — compressive: 60.0 N/mm²; flexural: 8.0 N/mm²
    After 28 days — compressive: 75.0 N/mm²; flexural: 8.5 N/mm²
  • Typical return to service: 60 minutes at ambient conditions ~18–22°C
