The new Richti-Areal premises have been constructed in the Zurich suburb Wallisellen on a former industrially used property with an area of 72,000 sqm (775,000 sq ft). The new buildings are mainly used as office and residential buildings. Two of the new buildings, construction Site 1 and construction Site 7, were provided with an energy efficient Closed Cavity Façade (CCF) fulfilling the highest building physical standards as well as the Minergie Standard. On the inside the CCF façade is glazed with triple insulating glass with solar control glass and Low-E and on the outside with a laminated glass made of low iron glass with double screen printing. A motor driven aluminized curtain wall for sun shading has been installed in the façade cavity.
Scope of Work
The total curtain wall area measures approximately 27,000 sqm (290,600 sq ft). Construction Site 1: approx. 14,000 sqm (150,700 sq ft) of façade and 2,100 sqm (22,600 sq ft) of single-skin façade for the ground floor. Construction Site 7: 10,900 sqm (117,300 sq ft) of façade. The two buildings are connected by four bridges which also have been provided with a CCF façade.
