The new extension to New York City’s Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) has a unique roof and façade composition with a variety of 18 different cladding types. Most of the building is clad with a single-skin panel façade. The infill materials include glass units, natural stone, aluminum sheeting and ceramics. The existing structural floors were unable to bear the façade loads so large sections of the panel façade needed to be suspended from a specially erected steel structure. The lack of on-site storage space posed an immense logistical challenge and required just-in-time façade unit delivery. Scope of Work 16,500 sqm (177,600 sq ft) of different façade types, glass roof, steel stick systems, entrance front including canopies, doors, gates. Interior stainless steel cladding.
