IntroductionThe Gubia Facade Sliding System is a sliding wooden facade lattice designed for solar control and architectural envelopes. It pairs a refined aesthetic with engineered functionality for durable exterior use in diverse climates and saline environments.
Innovation and sustainabilityThe cladding is manufactured from FSC or PEFC certified wood. Materials and finishes have been developed through R+D+i to ensure long-term performance while prioritising sustainable sourcing and treatments appropriate to exposure conditions.
Components of the facade sliding systemPanels are built from solid wood slats joined by AISI 316 stainless steel rods protected by AISI 316 separator tubes. Lower-mounted AISI 316 anti-derailment pulleys provide bearing and are height-adjustable. Each pulley is prepared for loads up to 100 kg. Slat species, section and spacing are selectable according to installation requirements; slats are suitable for use class 3.2.
Tests and qualityFull-scale mock-ups, prototypes and laboratory tests validate movement, bearing behaviour, friction coefficients, load and thrust forces, and regulation systems. Wood species and finishes undergo tensile adhesion, abrasion resistance, artificial aging and natural exposure tests with independent laboratory validation to ensure durability.
Functionality and aestheticsThe system allows regulation of daylight and natural ventilation through choice of slat section and spacing. The bottom bearing reduces issues from dirt accumulation and the design minimises visible trim, enabling a clean facade expression. Sliding panels can be combined with fixed panels to vary composition and light control.
Construction and energy efficiencyPrecise control of sunlight is achieved by configuring slat spacing and panel positioning. Prefabrication and coordinated workshop production enable customised solutions adapted to project requirements, contributing to building energy efficiency and recognised in applied projects.
