Overview The Homematic IP Universal dimmer insert makes existing lighting installations smart: it is installed discreetly inside the switch box and enables stepless dimming and switching of compatible lamps. Operation requires a compatible dimmer cover (e.g. push-button or motion sensor).

Combination and installation - The dimmer insert is combined with matching covers (e.g. Universal dimmer cover – push-button or Universal dimmer cover – motion sensor). This allows adapting the switch point to the existing switch design and reusing 55 mm frames.

Application example In a corridor, the Universal dimmer insert combined with a motion sensor cover provides anticipatory regulated lighting: when entering, the lighting switches to the desired brightness automatically; in long corridors an additional motion sensor extends detection for seamless illumination.
