Product informationGRP sandwich grating consists of a molded GRP grating core that provides the load-bearing function and two GRP panels laminated on the top and bottom faces. Standard panel thickness is 3 mm; 5 mm panels are available as an option. The grating surface is ground smooth prior to lamination to ensure optimal bonding between core and panels. A variety of surface finishes and anti-slip options are available depending on application requirements.
Resin systemsGRP systems are available with different resin matrices to meet requirements for corrosion resistance, temperature performance and fire behaviour.
- Orthophthalic polyester resin (OPR) — for mildly corrosive environments
- resin type: orthophthalic polyester
- hardly flammable, halogen-free (non-toxic)
- self-extinguishing
- HDT (A): 80 °C
- dimensional stability (Martens): 160 °C
- Isophthalic polyester resin (IPR) — standard, general-purpose
- resin type: isophthalic polyester
- hardly flammable, halogen-free (non-toxic)
- self-extinguishing
- HDT (A): 120 °C
- dimensional stability (Martens): 160 °C
- Vinyl ester resin (VER) — for extreme chemical resistance
- resin type: vinyl ester
- hardly flammable, halogen-free (non-toxic)
- self-extinguishing
- HDT (A): 120 °C
- dimensional stability (Martens): 180 °C
- Phenolic resin (PHR) — for maximum fire safety
- resin type: phenolic
- hardly flammable
- self-extinguishing
- HDT (A): 160 °C
- dimensional stability (Martens): 180 °C

- Standard panel thickness: 3 mm; optional panel thickness: 5 mm
- Surface preparation: grating surface ground smooth before lamination to ensure optimal bond
- Base compatibility: all molded GRP gratings can be used as a base for sandwich grating
- Available finishes: multiple surface options and anti-skid variants
- Resin system properties: OPR HDT (A) 80 °C / Martens 160 °C; IPR HDT (A) 120 °C / Martens 160 °C; VER HDT (A) 120 °C / Martens 180 °C; PHR HDT (A) 160 °C / Martens 180 °C
- Fire and safety: all listed systems are hardly flammable and self-extinguishing; vinyl ester and polyester systems are generally halogen-free; phenolic systems provide low smoke emission and reduced combustion gas toxicity
