Description

The 367.5 m (1,205 ft) high Bank of China Tower is one of the world’s tallest buildings, a towering landmark in the Hong Kong skyline. Shaped as a bamboo forest representing revival and hope, the asymmetrical 70-story tower makes its mark on both skyline and street. Its shape does truly resemble stalks of bamboo pushing skyward with a strong central shaft and flanking columns. The building’s structural form conceals portions of the exterior cross braces to create prism-like facets clad in reflective glass that mirror the sky as it changes. A broad promenade and several cooling water gardens - similar to those found in traditional Chinese landscape paintings - surround the base of the building. A 15-story atrium on the third floor illuminates the Bank of China’s banking hall. The promenade, water gardens, and atrium muffle the sounds of continuous activity and noise of surrounding city traffic. Scope of Work 60,000 sqm (646,000 sq ft) of cladding and curtain wall.
