DescriptionLITE-FLOOR is a range of laminated safety glazing specifically designed to create floor panels and stair treads. A LITE-FLOOR panel is made of at least three glass plies bonded by multiple polyvinyl butyral (PVB) interlayers. It comprises at least two load-bearing glass components and one protective glass component. The load-bearing glass components carry the nominal loads, even in the event of accidental breakage of one of them. The risk of falling fragments is limited by the protective glass component.
ApplicationsLITE-FLOOR panels are used for glazed floors and stair treads in interior and exterior settings. Designed to comply with regulations, LITE-FLOOR panels are suitable for residential buildings as well as public spaces such as offices, retail, restaurants and hotels.
Advantages- Opens up space by providing optimal transparency.
- Increases natural daylight within the building.
- Privacy can be preserved by using translucent interlayers.
- Wide choice of colours and digital print designs, glass types and coloured PVB thanks to various silk‑screened pattern options.
- Reduced slipperiness with the XTRA GRIP treatment; suitable for exterior use and humid environments.
Range — Glass componentsPLANICLEAR® is the standard glass used in common configurations. To increase light transmission and aesthetics, the extra-clear glass DIAMANT® is recommended. Panel composition and therefore thickness are determined to meet the requirements of CSTB booklet 3448. They vary according to the installation location (residential, retail, offices, etc.), panel dimensions, applied loads and desired aesthetics.
Slip resistanceIn interior humid areas (bathrooms, etc.) or in exterior locations, a slip-resistance treatment must be applied to the protective glass component. This treatment is mandatory for all stair treads. The research centre developed XTRA GRIP, a mix of enamels and corundum, which complies with European (EN 1341) and American (ASTM 1678-04) standards. XTRA GRIP is applied to the protective glass component through a silk‑screening process.
Characteristics / technical specifications- Composition: panel composed of at least three glass plies bonded by multiple PVB films; at least two load-bearing glass components and one protective glass component.
- Behaviour in case of breakage: load-bearing glass components support the nominal loads even if one of them breaks; the protective component limits the risk of falling fragments.
- Installation: requires particular care — respect tolerances, substrate flatness, drainage of rebates, selection of silicones and seal materials.
- Regulations: compliance with the provisions of CSTB booklet 3448 for floor panels and stair treads; panels must rest on peripheral supports on all four sides or on two sides when free edges are less than 50 cm; any other installation system must be tested and validated by an approved control body.
- Anti-slip treatment: XTRA GRIP for humid environments and stair treads, compliant with EN 1341 and ASTM 1678-04.
