DescriptionSECURIPOINT® is a heat‑strengthened tempered glass obtained by a dedicated thermal treatment. This process gives the glass higher mechanical resistance than conventional annealed glass and standard thermally tempered glass. In case of breakage, the glass fragments into small, less‑sharp pieces, reducing the risk of injury.
Applications- Point‑fixed exterior glazing (VEA) such as POINT S and POINT D.
- Elements where glass plays a structural role (posts, beams, stiffeners) or is subjected to significant permanent and/or local loads.
- Balustrade glazing, notably within the EASY GLASS system.
Advantages- High mechanical resistance: higher resistance to mechanical stresses than SECURIT®.
- Very low risk of spontaneous breakage due to nickel sulfide inclusions (NIS) thanks to submission to the Heat Soak Test (EN 14179).
- Fragments into small, less‑cutting pieces in case of breakage, limiting the risk of injury.
- Low risk of thermal breakage: manufacturing process increases resistance to thermal shock compared with annealed glass of the same thickness.
- Guaranteed surface stress level, ensuring high flexural rupture resistance.
- Base product range identical to SECURIT® substrates with specific designations for certain treatments (e.g. enamelled or fire‑safety versions).
Performance- Spectrophotometric and thermal performances: identical to those of SECURIT®.
- After Heat Soak Test, the level of thermal strengthening, characterized by surface stress, is at least 120 MPa at every point of the glass surface (edges and edge processing excluded).
- Each pane receives a marking confirming product origin and compliance with EN 14179 and the manufacturer's specifications.
Fabrication and installationFactory processing is identical to SECURIT®, except that edge finishing must be at least ground edge quality (chant meulé). Conventional installation in rebates and dimensioning must comply with applicable standards and regulations (notably NF DTU 39) and the manufacturer's instructions. For specific installation conditions, a dedicated study is required to account for relative movements of the building components.
Technical characteristics / specifications- Reference standard: EN 14179.
- Mandatory additional treatment: Heat Soak Test (detection and elimination of most at‑risk panes due to NIS inclusions).
- Minimum surface stress after treatment: 120 MPa (at every point of the surface, edges and edge processing excluded).
- Available thicknesses: 6 mm to 19 mm.
- Maximum dimensions: 4500 × 2440 mm.
- Spectrophotometric and thermal performances: identical to SECURIT®.
- Edge processing: edges must be at least ground edge quality for machining operations.
- Installation: in accordance with applicable standards and regulations (notably NF DTU 39) and manufacturer's instructions.
- Marking: each pane bears the name SECURIPOINT®, the producer name and the EN 14179 reference certifying conformity.
