Protection from the environment by Vector FoiltecWe often struggle in the wind and rain to keep our umbrellas from turning inside out. But, the designers of the ETFE canopies at Resinda Park Mall in Indonesia had another idea: inverted umbrellas that would protect visitors from the environmental elements. Vector Foiltec helped create six huge Texlon® ETFE canopies, each 20×20 meters, which cover the entrance area of Resinda Park Mall.Unique shape of Texlon® ETFE canopiesWith its unique shape, the steel structure and the two-layer ETFE cushions, cover a total area of 2,400 m². When it rains, the canopies collect the rainwater at the centre which then passes through the columns, acting as gutters. And on nice sunny days the ETFE foil provides thermal protection from the sun since it is partially printed with a special ink. At night, the coloured lights on these 30 meter high canopies, create a unique identity for the mall.
