OverviewInsulating glazing incorporating a COOL-LITE® XTREME solar-control glass is designed to provide the best solar protection possible for a given level of visible light transmission. These products offer very high selectivity. Their thermal insulation is also very high, helping to minimize heating losses in winter. With their exceptional performance, they enable the creation of bright, temperate and lower-energy workspaces.
Positioning and commitmentCOOL-LITE® XTREME coated glasses belong to the "committed" range, grouping the most performant solutions regarding environmental protection, health and user well-being. Each product must excel in at least one of the four pillars defining sustainable construction for Saint‑Gobain: energy and carbon, resource and circularity, health and well‑being of installers and users.
Key points- Energy savings: reduced lighting and cooling consumption thanks to a high selectivity (>2); reduced heating losses (Ug ≈ 1.0 W/m²·K in the indicated configurations).
- Thermal comfort: limits the risk of summer overheating and avoids a cold-surface sensation in winter.
- Visual comfort: provides maximum natural light for a given level of solar protection while maintaining optimal outward views.
ApplicationsInsulating glazing incorporating a COOL-LITE® XTREME glass is well suited to new or refurbished commercial projects where high energy performance is required.
- Façades fully or partially glazed, with low or high solar exposure, in cold to very hot climates.
- Rooflights, glazed roofs or atria, fully or partially glazed, or light wells.
Advantages- From the outside: modern aesthetic, very neutral or neutral appearance, with very transparent aspects for some references.
- From the inside: exterior views with minimal color shift and low-reflective appearance improving visual comfort.
- High to moderate natural light transmission depending on the reference, reducing artificial lighting demand.
- Strong solar protection with the lowest possible solar factor for a given visible transmission, reducing air-conditioning use.
- Very high thermal insulation to minimize heating losses in winter.

* Values calculated according to EN 673 and EN 410 for a double glazing 6(16)4 with 90% argon fill, a 6 mm COOL-LITE® XTREME solar-control glass with the coating on face 2 and a 4 mm PLANICLEAR* clear glass.
** Slightly different internal reflection values between COOL-LITE® XTREME 61/29 and 61/29 II.
Range and options- Available as monolithic glass: 6, 8 or 10 mm (other thicknesses on request).
- Available laminated from 44.2 up to 10 10.2 (other compositions on request).
- For XTREME II tempered versions, laminated assembly must be done after tempering (custom fabrication possible).
- Standard sizes up to 6000 x 3210 mm (other dimensions on request).
- Standard on PLANICLEAR® substrate and on DIAMANT® on confirmed order.
Installation instructions- COOL-LITE® XTREME glasses must always be assembled in insulating glazing with the coating on face 2. Edge deletion of the coating is mandatory.
- XTREME II types must be tempered to reach their performance and appearance.
- XTREME and XTREME II, having the same visible transmittance, share the same appearance and can be installed side by side on the same façade.
