Presentation
The DEFENDER range designates frameless glass balustrade systems without vertical posts. In these non-traditional systems validated by Avis Technique 2.1/21-1812_V1, only the bottom edge of the glass is embedded into an aluminium profile fixed onto a concrete support. For each family, the supplied profiles allow installation of straight balustrades and can also be used as stair stringer applications.

This installation aims to prevent the risk of falling from height in any public or occupiable space, according to local requirements and standards (static/dynamic tests and calculations).

Dimensions and glazing
For a balustrade composed of several adjacent panels, the gap between glass panels must be between 5 and 110 mm. The minimum width of glazed panels is 500 mm.
Glass thicknesses compatible with DEFENDER systems can be:
• 17.52 mm (composition 88.4) for DF88PICO, DF88LM, DF88DK, DF88MS and DF88FR systems
• 21.52 mm (composition 10 10.4) for DF1010LM, DF1010DK, DF1010MS, DF1010FR and DF1010SP systems
• 25.52 mm (composition 12 12.4) for DF1212LM and DF1212MS systems

Aesthetics and approved glass
Wide range of glass types validated by the Avis Technique to meet varied aesthetics: PLANICLEAR® clear glass, DIAMANT® extra-clear for increased transparency, STADIP® COLOR transparent and colored laminated glass. SECURIPOINT® panels are available: tempered, Heat Soak tested (HST) and assembled as laminated glass, compliant with EN 14449 and EN 14179, with visible SECURIPOINT® marking after installation.

Installation requirements
Installation must follow the recommendations of Avis Technique 2.1/21-1812_V1. Performance and allowable glass types may vary depending on local regulations and national prescriptions.
