Description

Description
EMALIT® EVOLUTION and SERALIT® EVOLUTION are ranges of tempered safety glass onto which one or more layers of enamel are applied. These enamels provide durable colour and/or decoration to the treated glazing.

EMALIT® EVOLUTION
Opaque enamel-coated glasses with a uniform colour obtained by applying one or more enamel layers over the entire glass surface.

SERALIT® EVOLUTION
Screen-printed glasses, opaque or partially transparent, which can feature multicolour patterns (generally fewer than 4 colours). Production is adapted for series manufacturing.

Properties of the enamels
The enamels are selected for durability to heat, UV radiation and humidity, and for a composition respectful of health and the environment. The enamels do not contain hazardous metals such as lead, cadmium, mercury or chromium VI and facilitate glass recycling.

Applications
EMALIT® EVOLUTION and SERALIT® EVOLUTION glazing can be used to decorate façades of commercial or residential buildings, new or renovated, as well as for interior or exterior fittings (urban furniture, splashbacks, cooker backsplashes, partitions, all-glass doors, shower screens, etc.).

  • Façade : cladding of infill elements (sandwich panels, opaque ventilated spandrels), decorative double glazing depending on coverage rate and position of the decoration.
  • Interior/exterior fit-out : wall coverings, splashbacks, cooker backsplashes, urban furniture (bus shelters, display panels), space dividers, door infills, shower screens, partitions, furniture, balustrade infills (assembled as laminated glass).

Advantages
  • Long-lasting performance : resistance to heat, UV and humidity; stable colours and appearance over time. Suitable for single glazing in façades (enamel facing inward) or as protective wall covering against impact and moisture (enamel facing the substrate).
  • Safety glass : tempered glasses compliant with EN 12150, with increased mechanical and thermal resistance, adapted to applications subject to loads other than self-weight or to large temperature variations.
  • Façade uniformity : EMALIT® EVOLUTION used on opaque panels provides a more uniform exterior appearance when associated with substrates having similar external reflection to transparent glazing.
  • High-quality decoration : double glazing combining SERALIT® screen-printed glass and low-emissivity coated glass can deliver both aesthetics and performance (reduced glare, solar protection depending on the design and position).
  • Health and environment : free of lead and cadmium; manufacturing compliant with environmental standards; recyclable.

Range and appearances
The substrates used (PLANICLEAR®, DIAMANT®, PARSOL®, COOL-LITE® ST/STB, etc.) make it possible to adjust the external reflection level of the glazing. The EMALIT® EVOLUTION range offers 21 standard colours (18 CLASSIC shades on PLANICLEAR® or DIAMANT®; 3 REFLET shades on COOL-LITE® substrates). The SERALIT® EVOLUTION range uses the same standard colours, with a screen-printed enamel deposit generally thinner and therefore slightly attenuated compared to enamel applied over the full surface. Use of translucent enamels enables translucent enameled glass (e.g. OPALIT® EVOLUTION) or screen-printed glazing with translucent motifs (SERALIT® EVOLUTION OPALE). Custom colours and patterns are available on request (prototype fabrication and screen plates for validation).

Remarks
The length/width ratio must not exceed 8. Manufacturing tolerances: 3 mm/m on bow and ±3 mm on dimensions.

Maintenance
To preserve the aesthetic aspect, clean regularly with neutral agents free of aggressive abrasive substances.

Instructions for use and installation
  • Position of the enamel layer : installation with the enamel layer facing outwards (face 1) is not recommended to preserve the initial appearance; for exterior use, a tailored study is required.
  • Heat Soak Test : for façade applications, the Heat Soak Test is recommended in accordance with EN 14179.
  • Assemblies : glasses can be laminated into safety laminated glazing (STADIP®, STADIP® PROTECT, STADIP® SILENCE). The enamel layer can be placed inside or outside the assembly. Double glazing assemblies with SERALIT® EVOLUTION require prior technical study.
  • Bending and tempering : SERALIT® EVOLUTION glasses can be bent; some applications may require tempering in accordance with EN 1863.
  • Fixings : rebate fixings, clamping by glazing beads or metal parts; avoid glass-to-glass and glass-to-metal contact; maintain a minimum 3 mm clearance between two elements for strip mounting.
  • Bonding : opaque glasses can be bonded (e.g. VEC for ventilated spandrels and claddings). Bonding validation tests are required according to current regulations; ensure the adhesive bead is not visible and, if necessary, adapt the enamel opacity.
