DescriptionVARIO® is an insulating double glazing unit fitted with metal inserts integrated into the sealing barrier during manufacture. These inserts allow the product to be installed directly on a façade or rooflight using appropriate fixing systems. The outer lite of VARIO glazing is retained on the façade by bonding to the insulating glazing unit's sealing barrier.
Applications- Façades, curtain walls
- Roofs or rooflights
Benefits and rangeThe inserts receive discreet mechanical fastenings (clamps), giving glass façades a smooth, uniform appearance comparable to exterior-bonded glazing.
RangeThe VARIO® insulating glazing units are offered in four configurations:
VARIO® U ADHESIVE and VARIO® U FLOTTANTGlazing fitted with continuous metal inserts bonded against the inner glass or floating in the middle of the sealing barrier, located:
- either on the two vertical heights for a continuous band installation (the rebated edge of the horizontal sides helps retain the outer glass in case of detachment);
- or on all four sides (in this case an additional retention device must be provided to secure the outer glass).
VARIO® II FLOTTANTGlazing fitted with discrete floating metal inserts in the middle of the sealing barrier, located:
- either on the two vertical heights for a continuous band installation (rebated edge of the horizontal sides ensures retention in case of detachment);
- or on all four sides with a continuous insert on the upper edge and discrete inserts on the other three sides (in this case provide an additional retention device to secure the outer glass in case of detachment).
VARIO® DZ FLOTTANTGlazing equipped on all four sides with floating metal inserts in the middle of the sealing barrier, with a continuous insert on the upper edge and discrete inserts with extensions on the other three sides. The extensions engage in a specific machining in the thickness of the outer glass edge; these pieces are invisible from the outside and provide additional safety: in case of detachment of the outer glass, all loads are taken by the discrete inserts with extensions and the outer glass is retained.
Compatible glass rangeThe different variants allow the use of a wide selection of façade glass types. Maximum dimensions: 2,500 x 5,000 mm.
Regulatory informationVARIO® glazing benefits from a Technical Assessment (Avis Technique) (since January 2022) and complies with standard EN 1279.
