DescriptionInsulating glass units incorporating COOL-LITE® SKN 176 or SKN 176 II offer very high visible transmittance (TL 70 %) combined with moderate solar protection (g = 0.37). Values below are given for a 6-16-4 IGU with the coating on face 2. These products belong to the "Les Engagés" range, selected for environmental, health and well-being performance. They help reduce energy consumption and improve occupant comfort.
ApplicationsCOOL-LITE® SKN 176 and SKN 176 II are suitable for new-build and renovation commercial projects requiring very high daylight admission, particularly for façades with low to moderate glazing ratios. In residential markets, SKN 176 can be used in vertical conservatory glazing or large picture windows.
Advantages- Neutral appearance with low external reflection (≈ 13 %).
- Very high visible transmittance (70 %) for strong daylight contribution and artificial lighting savings.
- Moderate solar protection (g = 0.37) to limit summer overheating while preserving good daylight; integration with internal blinds possible.
- Excellent thermal insulation (Ug ≈ 1.0 W/m²·K) to reduce heating losses.
- Thermal comfort: reduces the perception of cold surfaces in winter and lowers overheating risk in summer.
- Visual comfort: maintains good views to the outside despite solar control.
Performance (values according to EN 673 and EN 410, calculated with 90 % argon fill, 6-16-4 IGU, coating on face 2)Visible transmittance (TL) (%) : SKN 176 / SKN 176 II = 70
External visible reflection (RLext) (%) : SKN 176 / SKN 176 II = 13
Internal visible reflection (RLint) (%) : SKN 176 / SKN 176 II = 15
Solar factor (g) : SKN 176 / SKN 176 II = 0.37
Selectivity : SKN 176 / SKN 176 II = 1.89
Thermal transmittance Ug (W/m²·K) : SKN 176 / SKN 176 II = 1.0
Additional informationThe values above refer to solar control glass with coating on face 2, assembled in an insulating unit (6-16-4) on PLANICLEAR® substrate. Range also available monolithic (thicknesses 6, 8 or 10 mm); other thicknesses on request. Common dimensions: 6,000 x 3,210 mm (other lengths available on request). Available on PLANICLEAR® substrate in standard version or DIAMANT® on firm order. COOL-LITE® SKN 176 is also available as laminated safety glass (from 44.2 up to 10 10.2) in STADIP® PROTECT or STADIP® SILENCE versions for enhanced acoustic insulation.
Usage instructionsCOOL-LITE® SKN 176 and SKN 176 II must always be assembled in insulating glass with the coating positioned on face 2. Edge deletion of the coating is mandatory for both products. COOL-LITE® SKN 176 II must always be tempered prior to IGU assembly. These glasses can be bent; validation tests with the processor are recommended. SKN 176 and SKN 176 II show similar appearance after processing and can be installed side by side on the same façade.
