Project Feature
On the Southbank, in London Bridge Quarter, rises The Shard (London Bridge Tower); designed by Renzo Piano, the building is the highest in Europe with its height of more than 300 m (984,25 ft) Shard shaped glass apex. Construction started May 2009 and was completed in May 2012 in time for the 2012 Olympics. The façade of this landmark project was engineered, produced and installed by Permasteelisa Group, through its brand Scheldebouw. The building consists if it were of a composite of ‘fragments’ of glass. These give the tower a breathtaking appearance, where better than ever the fullest use is made of. 55,700 sqm (600,000 sq ft) of full external envelope Interactive Wall© ; 10,000 glazing elements (low iron glass with internal blinds); approx. 20,000 individual panels of glass.
