Project Feature
Located at 40 Mount Street, the 21 level Ark building delivers a dramatic new icon to the North Sydney CBD. The building incorporates 10,400 sqm (112,000 sq ft) of curtain wall comprising 1,400 mm wide panels with a high performance, eye catching, double low-E IGU and a lightly fritted spandrel and shadowbox. The low level entry floors have “Oriel” features, being a combination of zinc surrounded by full height glazing and adjacent outward sloping façade. Other signature design features include the delicate wings of glass that define the southern façade and the dramatic, angular shape of the façade itself. The glass wing appears suspended in front of the building and provides a sense of lightness, transparency and intrigue.
As the first completed high-rise building in New South Wales to achieve a 6 Star Green Star Design rating from the Green Building Council of Australia, Ark sets new benchmarks in sustainable design. Rice Daubney has also designed Ark to achieve a 5 Star NABERS Energy rating.
